Alex "Lex" Bannister

When it comes to personal fitness training, Alex Bannister is arguably unmatched and unparalleled. Alex has an extensive track record of participating in athletics since early childhood. At 5 years old, he had his first introduction to organized sports by playing soccer. His natural athletic ability was apparent at an early age. By age 9, he was already a member of an elite soccer team sponsored by Coca-Cola, and continued to play until the age of 15.

Alex’s story is very unique. He was raised by a single mother along with his younger brother and sister. Athletics is a lifestyle for him, not a goal, or a job! Growing up in the inner city of Cincinnati, sports was his outlet and a way to separate himself from crime and drugs. Challenges were not only present at home, but also at school. His high school didn't have a track or a football field, yet Alex managed to excel in both sports. He placed 5th in the state of Ohio in the 300-meter hurdles, and 15th place in the 110-meter hurdles. This was accomplished despite the fact that his school did not even have hurdles to practice on! Alex had to run around high school hallways, and have relay races around city blocks as a substitute to what we would typically think of as track practice.

Football is yet another sport he dominated in. He was 1st Team All City at Receiver, 2nd Team All City at Free Safety. He was also the punter, field goal kicker, and on the kickoff team at his school. He faced the same challenge with football as he had with track, but did not view not having a football field at school as a deterrent. He gives enormous credit to his high school coaches Al West and Alexis Owens, for being mentors and helped him develop his work ethic, discipline, mental strength, and perseverance in life.

Alex continued his athletic career into the college ranks. He walked on to the Alex Eastern Kentucky University football team and earned a full scholarship by his junior year! He was then drafted in the 5th round by the Seattle Seahawks. He played with the Seattle Seahawks for 5 years where he was named Special Teams captain for three straight seasons, and was voted to represent the NFC Special Teams in the 2003 Pro Bowl. He finished his career with the Baltimore Ravens in 2006.  He was recently elected to the Seattle Seahawks All-Decade Team!

This latest chapter in his life as a personal fitness trainer in Bellingham, WA is pursued with the same passion and zest as his professional athletic career. It combines his dedication to physical fitness as well as a genuine desire to help people achieve improved well-being and lifestyle through physical fitness.

It’s these experiences that make Alex more than qualified to be your Bellingham-based personal trainer and fitness coach. Alex brings a lifetime of experience, discipline, courage, commitment, perseverance, and most importantly… love! Alex isn't just a trainer; he’s a friend who cares, and wants to be a part of the journey that you will take to reach your fitness goals. He will challenge you to challenge yourself and turn your fitness goals into a manageable lifestyle.
