FITNESS ISN’T AN OPTION… PERIOD

I don’t know when exercise became an option in my life. I’ve always been active… from Jane Fonda to Step Aerobics to our personal Nordic Trak. I’ve always been a member of one gym or another and worked with numerous trainers. But somewhere I lost my motivation. With three children all attending different schools, all involved in different sports and activities, plus a full time demanding career, trying to be a wife and maybe tackle some housework (that was the first to go), taking care of myself was last on the list, and eventually erased completely.

In my late 40’s I was always tired, my lower back pain chronic, erratic sleep patterns and the unrelenting headaches debilitating. Yah, life wasn’t fun, and neither was Mom. My daughters were excelling in college and high school, but how was I going to keep up with my overactive 10 year old son. So I joined a gym, expecting to be as motivated as I used to be. Instead I hated going in, and would sit in the parking lot making excuses. It was at that point when during a business call that I met Lex Bannister.

I honestly believe I was supposed to meet Lex at this point in my life. I know that sounds cosmic, but Lex’s fitness program has truthfully altered my life. The patch I was on would’ve lead to an increasingly sedentary life, complete with diabetes, obesity and shorter lifespan. What does that teach my children? What started out over a year ago as a trial has now become incorporated into my lifestyle. Sweat Camp wasn’t easy, but even after the first session I was sold on this program. I’ve committed to memory what Lex said during that first week, "Remember what this feels like, and you will never get out of shape again.” I refuse to ever feel and look that way again. I’ve lost 20 pounds and two dress sizes but more importantly gained muscle tone, increased my energy level, overcame the back pain, headaches, and insomnia. But more important: my outlook on life is more positive, I’m healthier than I’ve ever been and as my husband says, "I have Crystal back.”

What is it about Lex Bannister Fitness that makes it so remarkable? There are two answers to that question: Lex and Joy. Lex knows what we are capable of; he sees our potential and believes we can reach it. There were times when I thought I was too sore, or too tired to make it to class, but the thought of disappointing Lex was enough motivation to get out of the car. And I’ve never regretted it, even though sometimes getting out of the car at home after running stairs was harder! Lex’s workouts are never repetitious, they are different everyday and they work your muscles in numerous directions, not just the same movement in the same stance. It’s always enjoyable to see how Lex stirs up the work outs. His energy and passion to help you reach your fitness goals is infectious. Joy rounds out that powerful equation with high energy, great nutritional support and her signature enthusiastic greeting when you walk in the door. She always brightens my mood and gets me motivated to give 100 percent during the work-out, even if it means I have to do sprints!

With inspiration from Lex Bannister Fitness, my list has been rewritten and my personal health and fitness is now a top priority, because as Lex reminds us; pain is just weakness leaving the body and I’m growing stronger everyday.
